Rush County native Brent Dalrymple led the North Daviess High School Cougars (27-3) to the Class A State Finals and won the state championship! Congratulations!

Dalrymple moved to Elnora in 2000 when he secured the head coaching position at NDHS. After twice making it to semistate, the Cougars returned there this year to defeat Jac-Cen-Del and set up a state finals date with Lafayette Central Catholic.
In a thrilling championship game, the two sides went into double overtime. An LCC player was fouled with no time left on the clock and his team down by two at 48-46. All alone at the stripe, his final foul shot attempted came off the front rim and the Cougars began the celebration in the backcourt.
In 22 seasons as coach in Daviess County, Dalrymple's record has grown to a robust 316-213.
Other first-time champions crowned Saturday were Providence in Class 2A and Beech Grove in Class 3A; Indianapolis Cathedral captured its first title since competing in the Class 4A division.
