    Parks and Recreation board welcomes new members and share park updates
    The parks and recreation board met on Tuesday, Jan. 11, and welcomed a new park board member who replaced James Zachery. In addition, Dan Burklow introduced Zach Goodwin, the new assistant parks director, and Brian Sowder as the full-time laborer/foreman. Andrew Miller is also employed part-time.

    Rush County veteran, Sgt. Maj. Bob Brown, 94, was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash on Dec. 7 at the Rush County Elks. Just over a month after receiving the  award, Brown made the trip to Indianapolis where the award was  officially presented to Brown by   Gov. Holcomb.

    The first day to file for office was Jan. 5. In last week's edition of the Rushville Recorder was an overview of general state positions for the upcoming election. In addition, this week we are sharing the candidacy selection for Rush County specifically.

  • LADY LIONS AT HOLIDAY CLASSIC

    MIDDLEBURY - The Lady Lions competed in the Interra Classic at Northridge High School over the break. The classic included eight teams from around the state split into two pools. Rushville came out on top in pool B after going 2-1 and earning a spot in the championship game with the host Northridge Lady Raiders.

    ST. LEON - Rushville Lions' boys basketball played in the East Central Tournament last week and earned their second win of the season in the opening game, facing off with the Holmes Bulldogs of Covington, Kentucky. A 63-58 victory for RCHS placed them into the championship with East Central, whom the Lions will face again this Friday. The Trojans earned the victory in the tournament final with a 52-37 win, giving the Lions their seventh loss of the season and ending their two-game win streak.

    Rushville wrestling had a nice showing at Connersville's Spartan Classic over the break. The Lions were 14th after day one among 32 schools, scoring 67 points. The team slipped to 20th by the end with 75 pts.

Indiana Commission to Combat Drug Abuse
Indiana’s Commission to Combat Drug Abuse will meet virtually Friday morning. At the meeting, Executive Director for Drug Prevention, Treatment and Enforcement Douglas Huntsinger and other commission members will discuss continued efforts related to the drug crisis. Chairman Huntsinger will make an announcement.
