Evans golf outing is Aug. 28
The second annual Jimmy “Van” Coach Evans golf outing to benefit the Rushville Lions’ Athletic Fund is set for Saturday, Aug. 28 at Antler Pointe Golf Club with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
Organizers hope to double the funds raised last year. Cost is $50 per player or $200 for 4-person teams. Optional games include a 50/50 drawing, skin pot of $5/player or $20/team, and poker (50% of proceeds to RCHS athletics).
Entry fees cover a meal, door prize ticket, chance to win longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt (men and women). Prizes of $200 and $100 will go to the first and last-place teams, respectively. Ties will revert to the cards. Hole sponsorships are $50 each (preferably by Aug. 14). All money will be collected the day of the tourney. Retailers wanting to donate door prize items should call 765-561-5824 by Aug. 21.

All-sports passes available soon
The Rushville Consolidated High School Athletic Department has announced all-sports passes for the 2021-22 school year will be available beginning Aug. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., as well as at the first two home football games.
A Golden Lion pass is $60, adult passes are $50 and students pay $40. Passes cover all home regular season athletic events except for tournaments. The school will be charging admission for baseball and softball next spring; passes will cover these contests.

Racing bonanza at Eldora
Dirt track fans were treated to not one, but two, of the largest purse races for Sprint Cars so far this summer. Last year’s race was canceled, so both the 37th & 38th Annual King’s Royal features were run July 17 in Rossburg, Ohio.
World of Outlaws driver Tyler Courtney didn’t drive like it was his first time in the Kings Royal, as he pocketed a check for $175,000. He led a majority of the 38th Kings Royal to hold off David Gravel’s last lap effort to pass him on the outside. Gravel would later be disqualified for his car being underweight at final inspections.

NASCAR driver Kyle Larson took the checkered flag and wore the crown as winner of the 37th Kings Royal, but only after permission from his boss Rick Hendricks, who agreed to have a plane ready to get him back to New Hampshire for his Sunday NASCAR cup series race. After starting 9th, Larson edged his way through traffic and made his way to the lead by lap 20; he held on for the last 20 laps to take home the victory and a check for $175,000. This was Larson’s 22nd World of Outlaws feature win, but his first Kings Royal victory.
