Leslie "Wayne" Craven, 84, a life long Rush County resident, passed away December 29, 2020 in Richmond. He was born June 30, 1936 in Rush County to Leslie Craven and Fay (Stout) Wolters. He was a PFC in the US Army serving his country from 1954-1956. He was in Company A 54th Engineer Battalion. Wayne married Shirley Wolfe on May 12, 1957 and she survives.
He worked for Kroger for 47 years before retiring in 1998. Wayne was a member of the American Legion Post #150, the Knights of Columbus and Trinity Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by a son, Dennis Craven of Rushville, his daughters, Carla Sharpe (Norman Suggs) of Glenwood and Lorri (Richard) Yager of Rushville, a sister, Donna (Gene) Wagoner of Homer, grandchildren, Brittany (Justin) Dodd, Haley (Mitchell) Hampton, Craig Yager (Amanda Wurst) and Kaylee (Ross) Pickering and great-grandsons, Paxton and Camden Dodd and one on the way. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Carlos and Curtis Craven and sisters, Betty Westfall and Viola Newlin.
Services were held Monday, January 4, 2021 in Moster Mortuary with Pastor John Wall presiding. Friends visited the family from 11:30 AM until time of service on Monday. Burial was in the Rushville East Hill Cemetery.
The Rush County Veteran's Honor Guard provided military honors.
