Ray Cook, the 8th child of Owen and Sarah (Prather) Cook, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at the Hancock Regional Hospital. His family was all with him through this long journey. Ray was born March 28, 1944 at home in Rushville. He was a 1963 graduate of New Salem High School where he played basketball. He married Sue Dunn on May 29, 1965 and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage.
Ray was a member of the Little Flatrock Christian Church.
He had farmed all his life. Ray loved the land and taking care of it. He enjoyed classic cars and showing them at different events over the years.
In addition to his wife, Sue, Ray is survived by his two children, Jeff (Kim) Cook and Lori (Brian) Hill. He loved and took great pleasure in his five grandchildren, Conner (Jasmine) Cook, Sarah Ray Cook, Meghan Reed and Grant & Abby Hill. His great-granddaughter, Presley Marie Cook, brought him so much joy. Also surviving is his sister Joann Crawford and sister-in-law Helen Cook Smith along with several nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by brothers, Harlan (Rosalie) Cook, Earl (Reba) Cook, James "Bud" (Charlene) Cook and Gilbert Cook and sisters, Mary (Joe) Beard and Hazel (Carmen) Coyle.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2020 in the Orange Cemetery in Fayette County. Pastor Mike Hedrick presided.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center, 801 N. State St, Greenfield,IN.
