Musician Lindsey Flannery was born and raised in Rush County, and now as an adult, Flannery is enjoying a new chapter in Rushville as a favored local musician. Flannery began her musical journey at the age of 12 as she learned how to play the guitar slowly. Five years later, Flannery had her first gig.

Flannery has performed in Greensburg, Shelbyville and Indianapolis, but her favorite place to perform is still Rushville. Flannery does a blend of alternative, rock and country music. "I like to take a song and try to put my own spin on it," Flannery said. "This is my favorite part of playing."

Flannery had plenty of inspiration in the music industry to inspire her playing. "The musicians who have inspired me the most musically are Brandi Carlile, Johnny Cash, and Simon and Garfunkel," Flannery said. "I often sing their songs and have  been influenced by their styles."Flannery recently performed at the Summer Concert Series as the opening act for "Monsters of Yacht."

Flannery's next gig is at South 113 in Rushville on Oct. 1, from 8 to 11 p.m.  "My parents, family, and friends have supported me musically, in addition to local venue owners and the community," Flannery said. "I am thankful for all of the great support I have received, and I would not be able to play music without it."
